Latest data from the Action Agenda estimates national access rate to be 26% in 2014. Adoption of clean cooking solutions is still extremely limited, its improvement are in line with the population growth, but a major rollout of clean cooking solutions is planned to be achieved by 2020.

Uganda opted in the SE4All initiative and prepared a rapid assessment followed by an Action Agenda, that was formally adopted by the government. The Agenda sets the goal of having more than 98% of the population with access to electricity and more than 99% with access by 2030, while achieving more than 90% of renewable electricity production. The AA suggests a diversification of renewable technologies and that these should continue playing a good role in Uganda’s electricity mix in combination of mini and micro-grids. SE4ALL goals for Uganda regarding energy efficiency build on analysing energy savings potential in different sectors of the country’s economy (households, commercial enterprises, industries and buildings) and   aim to reduce national wood consumption by 40% and improve energy efficiency of power users by min 20% by 2030.

Uganda focal point for SE4All is located in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.
